Ian Lawson (B.Mus [hons], M.Mus) studied music and composition
to postgraduate level at Cardiff University. From the beginning
he was equally attracted to classical music and popular music.
In the early days this diversity provided the key to success
within the television and film industry. More recently, however,
these early seeds have developed into a mature style that
is essentially classical in form but with the emotional and
melodic directness of popular music.
Complementing his roles as composer and producer Ian is also
active as a pianist. He has recorded and performed live a
collection of piano pieces (preludes) as well as playing on
a recent recording of The Tree Calendar, a song-cycle for
mezzo, string quartet, and piano.
